Sova Camden Flying High!

Sova Camden Volunteer Mentor shortlisted for the Team London Mentoring & Coaching 2014.

Sova volunteer Victoria was one of just five volunteers feted in an award ceremony at the Mayor of London’s office last month.
Victoria was among the runners up for the Team London Mentoring and Coaching Award and received acknowledgment and a certificate of recognition for providing quality mentoring through the Sova Camden Young People’s Mentoring Service (CYPMP).
Victoria and Sova Project Manager Michael Sojirin were invited to attend the Award Ceremony on 17th September, mixing with Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Barbara Windsor and other dignitaries.
Victoria was nominated for the award by the Camden project as a result of her achievements in mentoring a particular young person and Michael explained how Sova members of staff had come to recognise that the young person had achieved far more than the planned actions.
The young person was referred to Sova as a result of her anger and isolation.  After being mentored by Victoria, the young person was able to go out by herself, maintain healthy relationships with other people, engage with Camden specialist support workers and was even able to work.
“Victoria has contributed immensely to Sova by her hard work and by upholding Sova’s integrity and raising Sova’s profile through her mentoring services and achievements,” said Michael.
