Volunteers
Volunteers are central to all of SOVA's work. Many of our projects
have a team of volunteers who engage with and support the clients.
SOVA welcomes volunteers from the local community.
- Before applying to become a volunteer, please find the project
nearest to you and use the link at the bottom of the project page to complete the Volunteer Application
Request form.
- If you already know the project that you wish to apply to, please complete the Volunteer Application
Request form.

- There are a number of stages to becoming a SOVA
volunteer:
- Application form
- Interview
- Criminal Records Bureau check
- accredited training
- post-course interview
- SOVA volunteers receive:
- support and supervision from local staff
- expenses
- additional training
- As a SOVA volunteer you might be supporting offenders, vulnerable
young people, unemployed, refugees, substance mis-users, the
homeless. A volunteer might engage with a participant in the
community, in prison, at their place of work or at one of SOVA's
centres.

- Clients' needs vary considerably but as a volunteer
you may be expected to help with:
- filling in forms
- basic skills
- preparing for an interview
- housing
- debt
- life skills
- SOVA hopes that volunteers will dedicate 4 hours a week
to each mentee assigned for at least six months.
