Although all SOVA Projects
in Rotherham work together, they fall roughly into two categories.
Employment, Training And Education projects address specific
employability issues for offenders and those at risk of offending.
Our aim is to enable them to move into stable employment,
training and education. This might mean that clients require help with
barriers like debt or homelessness, mental health issues or low
self-esteem.
In addition to an all-round
service for Probation clients, SOVA runs Progress2Work and Link-Up
both funded through JobCentre Plus.
These initiatives are specifically aimed at people who are
highly motivated to get into work or training but who have special
issues around drug use (Progress2Work) or offending, alcohol or
homelessness (Link-Up).
Clients
of all SOVA services in Rotherham are offered help with Literacy and
Numeracy. Clients can
also access the help of a trained volunteer mentor or supporter.
