Sova celebrate the work of our volunteers at our annual national awards event!

On Saturday 18th June, over 40 of our volunteers from across England and Wales joined us to celebrate our National Values Awards. The day began at a fabulous venue in central Birmingham, The Cube, where we were treated to an amazing ‘afternoon tea’ consisting of never ending sandwiches and cakes.  Sophie Wilson, our Chief Operating Officer welcomed our volunteers and thanked them for their hard work, dedication and commitment.

Our runners up and Award winners were then presented with their awards and certificates by Sophie and Chris Benfield, our National Quality Manager. Chris shared details of why staff had nominated these inspirational volunteers for our values awards of Passion, Integrity, Focus and Fairness. It’s fair to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the room, and it was lovely to see how proud the volunteers were of their achievements.

Tributes where also paid to much missed volunteer Pete Draper, who passed away last year. We where honored to have members of Pete's family with us on the day.

After a very filling lunch, we then set off on a short walk along the canals and then undertook a canal boat trip – with more cake and a lot of chatting!

We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing volunteers, and we look forward to seeing many more of you at next years event.
