Sheffield Mentoring Scheme currently
has two strands:
We seek to meet the needs of some of
the most vulnerable children in the city, where there are issues around
offending, exclusion from school and the general lack of supervision of the
young people.
A large number of our children and
young people have disabilities or behavioural
difficulties.
We prioritise children who are at
risk of offending in the community or exclusion from school. We provide these
children with a Volunteer Mentor and supervise their relationships. We review
the relationship after six months - but have a flexible approach to the length
of our support.
Where it is more appropriate to meet
the needs of the parents rather than the children, we may provide a Parent
Mentor.
