Volunteers
may be assigned both short and long-term placements, thus rapidly building
varied experience. Working within strict rules regarding confidentiality, the
mentor aims to empower the client enabling them ultimately to make there own
choices. Volunteer mentors will help offenders to ensure that they are supported
and encouraged to work towards ultimately gaining employment or training.
SOVA is one of the leading mentoring organisations

supports the client to engage in constructive activities with the aim of
empowering the individual to gain fulfilling long-term employment, education or
training.
SOVA believes in strengthening communities by
involving local volunteers to promote social inclusion and reducing
crime.
Volunteers may offer practical and social
support, enabling access to employment and training opportunities through
helping the clients with:

Other appropriate
support/activities as required
This work helps the offender re-engage with
society by building self-esteem, confidence and resilience.
