We offer mentoring support to service users that are currently under the probation or prison service within Staffordshire and the West Midlands and the East Midlands.

Sova currently provide a mentoring service to the Community Rehabilitation Companies (CRC) across Staffordshire & the West Midlands and the East Midlands.

The CRC’s are a relatively new branch of the probation service and are privately owned run by a company called the Reducing Re-offending Partnership (RRP).

Our mentors provide general mentoring support to service users who are under the probation service or the prison service.

Our mentoring within the probation service is predominantly community based, assisting service users with a number of issues such as attending and making appointments, assisting with application forms and looking for work or training courses.

The custody mentoring requires working with both male and female offenders who are due for release and supporting them through the gate upon their release day.

This mentoring role entails our volunteers assisting with the transition between custody and the community. This includes access to mental health services, benefits, housing and other support needs the service user may have.

The Sova team saw [a service user] last week, he was so grateful and appreciative of their support…

He can see his life turning round now following the Sova intervention and had stopped thinking about self-harm due to his debts
