We recognise the value of recruiting people who are able to make a positive and effective contribution to the organisation and who are representative of the communities in which we work. We are committed to developing the strengths of a diverse workforce to ensure that we achieve the aims and objectives of the organisation.

Supporting you in your role

At Sova we will support you in your role and take your wellbeing seriously. Your hard work will be recognised and rewarded, and there will be a range of opportunities for development.

  • Benefits include:
  • 26 days of holiday leave
  • A contributory pension scheme
  • Childcare vouchers
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Group Life assurance scheme

We are proud to achieve consistently high scores in our annual staff satisfaction survey. Our staff report high levels of motivation, satisfaction with their level of responsibility and the support they receive working in professional, multi-disciplinary teams.

Here are some of the ways you will be supported as you progress in your career with us:

  • Flexible Working

Employees with different lifestyles, family responsibilities or long term health conditions usually find it difficult to manage working inflexible hours.

Sova provides many opportunities to work part-time, job share or work flexible hours. Together with our employees we look for solutions that will resolve difficulties and challenges and we wholeheartedly embrace the work-life balance.

  • Management and supervision

You will have regular supervision during your 6 month probationary period to address any issues or concerns, followed by six-weekly supervision thereafter. Supervision is a dynamic two-way process, is values based and is centred on a shared agenda to ensure that issues and needs are addressed and resolved.

  • Learning & Development

Developing our staff to be able to fulfil their role as best they can is very important to us. Our in-house mandatory programme for each Sova post is supported by access to our on-line training platform, Connect Skills alongside opportunities to be part of task groups that share skills and knowledge across the organisation.

  • Health and Wellbeing

We have access to a suite of online wellbeing resources which you can use to create a personalised wellbeing plan to help you achieve healthy life goals relating to stress management, fitness and exercise, weight management and healthy eating.

  • Wellbeing hour

Sova offer a well-being hour to all of our employees. You can take an hour out of your work each week to pursue an activity to improve your health, wellbeing or personal development.

  • Mentoring for Success

Whatever stage you are at in your career, you can benefit from our employee mentoring scheme. This provides one-to-one career development support to help you realise your potential and move forward in your career. This programme is delivered across Sova and our parent  company, CGL – offering huge opportunities for cross-organisational learning.

Generally a mentoring relationship will last around three months, with one face-to-face meeting per month and additional phone and email support as agreed.

  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Programme is designed to help staff acquire the skills and resilience to deal with the many challenges of day-to-day life and work. Support includes access to telephone counselling, face-to-face counselling, telephone legal information and general telephone advice.

  • Mediation scheme

Everyone has a line manager who supports them in all aspects of their working life. We also offer in-house trained mediators from our parent company CGL, who can help resolve certain employee relations issues which cannot be resolved through line management.

When asked about their experience of the CGL mediation service, 87% of participants said they thought their mediation had been successful.

  • Diversity

Sova recognises that a diverse workforce has a broader mix of skills, knowledge and experience, giving the organisation more creativity and resource to overcome challenges. With a strong equal opportunities ethos, Sova has achieved a diverse workforce in every way. Sova has achieved the Positive about Disability Quality Mark for many years and prides itself on being positive about disabled people.

  • Internal communication

We believe that good internal communication is essential. It’s about working together as one team with one common goal, to provide the best service we can to our clients. Sova has dedicated Staff Representatives that will discuss any issues or ideas with our Senior Managers, as well as a range of staff led practice forums and task and finish groups.
