The Hull Leaving Care Mentoring Scheme aims to provide young
people leaving care between the ages of 16-21 or who have left
care, with a trained volunteer mentor who can offer them support,
guidance and encouragement. In particular the project aims to:
- Improve the self-esteem of care leavers and their prospects
in the future and in particular increase the numbers gaining
qualifications and employment.
- Reduce the numbers of care leavers who become homeless.
- Give a range of support to disadvantaged young people leaving
care.
- Increase the opportunities available to young people leaving
care.
