project aims:

The Project Aims to:

- Develop and implement a volunteer mentoring programme for young people leaving care.
- Provide guidance and procedures for the safe running of the scheme in line with the principles of the Prince's Trust and taking account of relevant statutory requirements and recommended good practice for young people leaving care.
- Provide screened, trained and supported volunteer mentors who will be available for each careleaver referred, for up to a year.
- Develop links and provide information to local authorities.
- Make more carers and young people leaving care aware of the opportunities that are already available on Prince's Trust activities.
- Introduce a Basic Skills agenda in support of careleavers.
- Monitor and evaluate both the process and the individual outcomes of the scheme.
- Share good practice with other partners in the Leaving Care Initiative.
