SOVA Invest To Save Bail Support Scheme | | The Director for SOVA Invest To Save Bail Support Scheme is Dean Howson contactable through SOVA Regional Office. |
Project aim: | SOVA ISB Bail Support Scheme is a multi-agency pilot scheme to provide bail support across six court sites within the Yorkshire and Humber region. The sites consist of Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford, Hull, Scarborough and York. The scheme aims to offer structured support packages to enable courts to consider bail for adult defendants as direct alternatives to custody. The scheme provides dedicated Bail and Accommodation Support Officers, employed by NACRO, to assess defendant need and develop tailored programmes of intervention. NACRO manages the commissioned service on behalf of the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and is the lead provider of the voluntary sector consortium, of which SOVA is a partner.
The overall intended outcome of the scheme is to provide the courts with viable alternatives to remands in custody where defendants have been risk assessed and may be managed safely in the community by providing robust levels of supervision and collaborative support.
