Prison Service Plus

The Director for Prison Service Plus is Sarah Hartley contactable through SOVA Regional Office.

Project aim:	PS Plus 2 provided 3 core services: Case-management; Employment, Training and Education (ETE) and Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG); and Accommodation. Case Managers had casework responsibility from the moment a prisoner was flagged as a possible beneficiary until the time of release and complete the Case Assessment and Tracking System (CATS) assessment; decided the intensity of intervention required (low, medium or high); wrote the Community Integration Plan, regularly reviewed and recorded progress and held a pre-release case conference with other intervention staff. Employment Support Workers provided information on employment, training and education as well as information, advice and guidance. SOVA was working alongside colleagues from a range of other organisations: accommodation services were provided by partner agencies. PS Plus 2 was only allowed to deliver services to PS Plus 2 beneficiaries. Prisoners without an employment need could not join the project. Beneficiaries could come from new receptions into the establishment or from the existing population by either self-referral or referral by a member of staff. PS Plus 2 used standard European Social Fund criteria to screen prisoners in or out: Age: male prisoners must be no older than 64 and must be aged 17 or above upon completion of being accepted to receive the services. Females must be no older than 59, and must be aged 17 or above upon completion of being accepted to receive the Services. Residence: legally a UK resident and available for work in the UK upon release from prison. Sentenced and remand: serving a minimum of 21 days in custody, and having a maximum of 24 months to their earliest potential release date.
