Newday Peer Mentoring Support Service delivered by Sova - Bangor

At the Sova Newday Peer Mentoring Support Service we find, train and support volunteer mentors to help offenders to get back into work, giving them a better chance of steering clear of crime.

Our mentors work with offenders who have recently left prison or are serving a community order to give them the advice and one to one support they need to find and keep a job. This could be anything from helping to set up work placements or giving interview tips to encouraging people to get new skills and qualifications; from giving advice on housing or benefits to simply being a friendly, reassuring person to talk to.

Our mentors help people to get a fresh start and change their lives for the better. We support offenders living in the European Convergence Areas in Wales, which include Torfaen, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhonnda Cynon Taf, Bridgend, Neath and Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire,Cerdigion, Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy and Denbighshire.

The Sova Newday Peer Mentoring Support Service is funded by the European Social Fund, Welsh European Funding Office and the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) Cymru.
