Sova Essex Drug and Alcohol Team Mentoring Project
At the Sova Essex Mentoring Project we find, train and support volunteer mentors to work with offenders who have a Class A drugs problem. Our mentors provide the practical advice and emotional support offenders need to help them to stay away from drugs and steer clear of crime.
Our volunteer mentors work alongside offenders while they are in HMP Chelmsford, as well as when they are living in the community. From meeting people at the gate on the day they’re released from prison to dropping them off at detox or rehab appointments or court appearances our mentors are there to offer reassurance and practical help. We also run a drop-in service in Chelmsford and Basildon and mentoring support for any family members who feel they need advice on coping with their relative’s addictions.
The Sova Essex Mentoring Project is funded by the Essex Drug and Alcohol Team.
