Sova South Yorkshire Offender Service

Working with Jobcentre Plus to help offenders to get back into work, giving them a better chance of steering clear of crime.

Our member of staff works across five Jobcentre Plus offices in Sheffield to support unemployed people with a criminal record to boost their chances of finding and keeping a job.  We give the one to one advice and support each person needs to feel motivated and ready for work.   This could be by offering practical tips on putting together a CV or interview skills, by guiding people to the right training to get new skills and qualifications or simply by working with them to build their confidence and self-esteem. We also give them advice on what they need to tell prospective employers about their offending and highlighting the steps they have taken to move away from crime and get their lives back on track.

SOVA South Yorkshire Offender Service is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, via Sheffield Jobcentre Plus.
