Project Mission and Aims

The Lincolnshire Millennium Volunteers Project is funded by the Department of Education and Skills.  The programme is designed for young people between the ages of 16-24 who want to make a sustained commitment to volunteering for the benefit of their community.  It aims to:

Improve standards in literacy and numeracy
Provide access to young people to mentoring support and encouraging young people to become involved in peer mentoring opportunities.
Give young people improved access to information about volunteering, health promotion and community resources.
Contribute to crime reduction and restorative justice, making the community a safe place in which to live.
Work to rebuild the local community as the projects base provides a focus for one of Lincolnshires most deprived housing estates.
Provide an opportunity to access the Millennium Volunteers initiative to the most socially excluded young people in Lincolnshire including young offenders and young people leaving the care of the local authority.
