National launch of justmentoring – services to support crime free lives

For the last year NOMS VAM has been supporting the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (MBF) in developing an excellent new resource to support mentoring services, criminal justice agencies, volunteers and those caught up in crime to best access mentoring support. ‘Justmentoring – services to support crime free lives’ is an online directory and so much more. Check out: http://www.justmentoring.org.uk to see it for yourself.

On Wednesday 12th June justmentoring was launched at an event in London. The event was attended by a wide range of senior figures within the criminal justice world. Of particular note were some representatives from potential prime providers within the new offender rehabilitation reforms.

Jeremy Wright MP (Minister of State for Prisons and Rehabilitation), Bettina Crossick (NOMS’ lead on Mentoring and Volunteering), Steve Matthews (CEO of MBF) and Sova’s Mark Willoughby spoke at the event which aimed to showcase the significant benefits of mentoring as part of an offender’s rehabilitation alongside highlighting how this new resource will be so valuable in expanding mentoring provision across the criminal justice system.
