In a single year our volunteers typically give up the equivalent of around 9,000 working days to support, befriend and mentor
people who need them; to let them know there's someone on their side, to offer practical help, advice and guidance, as well as
friendship and understanding. Someone who can question, challenge and encourage without judgment. Someone to help them make the
right choice and get a second chance.
Our volunteers allow us to increase the quality of services and programmes we provide and give the time and attention that
we don't have, to the people who need it most. We recruit people from all walks of life*, rating enthusiasm, life experience
and a desire to make a real difference, above all else. We work to create an environment that embraces diversity and reflects
the people and communities we support. By recruiting volunteers from the widest possible pool, we believe we find the most
talented people, who are best placed to understand and empathise with our clients.
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Sova, and without them we simply couldn't operate. Giving a small amount
of time to volunteer can change lives.
