Sova CRI Greenwich Mentoring Project re-launches with new CRI 17>25 Service
Sova and CRI launches a new service in Greenwich called 17>25. The new service supports young adults who may be socially excluded, not in education, training or employment, struggle with mental health or substance misuse issues or be at risk of offending across the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
This new service will continue the strong partnership between Sova and CRI in the borough. Between April 2014 and July 2015 Sova has been working alongside CRI at the Greenwich Reducing Reoffending Service. As this service becomes a young adults service, due to local need, Sova is excited to be continuing the great work and providing Sova mentoring support to a new service user group.
The 17>25 service was officially launched at an event on Monday 3rd August. Agencies and organisations from across the borough were in attendance and met the team and Sova volunteers. Sova volunteers shared their experiences of mentoring and what Sova could offer to young adults they are working with.
The service now offers a wide range of tailored interventions for young adults aged 17 to 25, who may need help with a range of issues. Support includes mental health awareness, recreational activities such as sport and social trips, and referrals to employment, training and educational providers. Sova will continue to provide volunteer mentors to support any young adults attached to the service.
Amana Wilkins (Sova Programme Manager, Strengthening Communities - London and the South) said “We're really excited to start this new journey on the 17>25 project and we are looking forward to continuing our close partnership with CRI".
