Are you looking for an opportunity to share your life skills with those less confident? Gain valuable skills and experience whilst helping others – volunteer and you can help a young person to have better life chances.
Sova is searching for energetic and motivated people to volunteer on The Midlands Independent Visitors service, a statutory service for young people who are "looked after" by their local authority and have little or no contact with family.
Volunteering to spend one full day per month with a child aged 8-17 offering them the opportunity to talk to someone who is not "paid" to come and see them. You might take the young person to the cinema, help with independence skills, take them to the park or support them to try a new hobby or sport. you will use your skills to support the child's personal development as they grow up.
Full induction and training will be provided and volunteer costs reimbursed. Successful applicants will have to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Time commitment: 1-4 hours per week
